State-based STEM Summer Camps and After School Programs

STEM Summer Camps

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

The State-based STEM Summer Camps and After School Programs is one part of a series of comprehensive STEM resources that are broken down into the categories shown below.

STEM Activities and Resources for Kids: 319 STEM Sites

STEM Activities and Learning Websites ♦Games and Apps ♦Camps and After School Programs ♦Contests ♦Grants and Awards ♦Career Resources ♦Initiatives

We built this state-based listing of STEM summer camps and after school programs to help you find the STEM program that best fits your child.  The programs offered may change so please contact the organization for the most current information.  Besides the specific list for your state we suggest that you also consider the following options as well:

  • YMCA: Many YMCA branches across the country offer STEM summer camps.
  • City Recreation Centers: Many city recreation centers have STEM summer camps for kids.
  • Science Museums and Children’s Museums: Youth STEM summer camps are frequently offered by celebrated museums such as the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and The Tech Museum of Innovation in Silicon Valley, CA, just to name a few. There are also opportunities for interactive STEM experiences at some children’s museums. This past summer, my 5 year old son had a blast programming Dash & Dot Robots from Wonder Workshop at the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco.
  • Universities and Colleges: During the summer quite a few local universities and colleges offer STEM programs. Some residential camps even offer the opportunities for kids to live on the campus like college students.
  • STEM Residential Camps: Each summer kids travel across the country to have great experiences attending premium STEM residential camps in another state.
